It's a condo on the beach but it's quite far from all the major attractions and such and won't be as annoying as any of the other hotels. If you aren't sure for the 22 year old, I'd say that if he wants somewhere quiet, book a hotel room at Landmark. If you like somewhere that will entertain you and leave you wanting more than your best bet is PCB. The main thing in Fort Walton is the beach which isn't that great. Anyway, there were none there when we visited, just a couple people fishing on an unusually warm winter day.Īnswer: My barber was born in Fort Walton and as I was explaining where I was going for vacation a few days ago he was telling me that it was a good idea not to go to Fort Walton. Maybe it's just visitors from that state up north. I am not making this up- see their website. Be careful though- the Public Lands Journal says Bigfoot sightings have been reported there. The Beach City Wildlife Area adjoins the 650 acre lake. There is one lone picnic table, although the entire park would be a nice place to spread a blanket on the grass for a picnic. A higher parking lot has handicapped parking and access to restrooms (open seasonally). The road soon forks and you can continue on to the dam (more than a mile long, 65 feet high, crest 35 feet) and viewing area or turn right to drive to a parking area for fishing and hiking access. Once you turn off the highway, the traffic noise vanishes and you are in a secluded valley. Most tourist traffic rolls down 250 in a rush to get to Wilmot or New Philadelphia and bypasses Beach City dam and lake, if they even notice the sign at the entrance near the intersection with hwy 93 south to Sugarcreek.
